The technology behind it
HushLine is built on three layers of AI working in sequence:
Speech recognition (on-device)
Your voice is transcribed locally in your browser using the Web Speech API — the same native speech recognition built into Chrome and Safari. It processes your voice instantly on your device with no audio data sent to a third-party server.
Language model (Grok)
The transcript goes to a large language model trained to respond in character. The model knows your companion's personality inside and out — every response stays in role, every time.
Voice synthesis (ElevenLabs)
The AI's text response is converted to speech using ElevenLabs Turbo — ultra-low latency, human-quality voice output. Each companion has a distinct voice matched to their personality.
